SYDIC is proud to announce the conclusion of the 2022 Summer School held at the Lake Como of Advanced Studies in September promoted by ASVIS, System Dynamic Society, Silico and many others.

Vision

This year the School aimed to stimulate participants, who came from different backgrounds, to identify systemic solutions to complex problems in sustainability.

Activities

We developed a mix of theories, initially differentiating the participants between scholars and professionals to align competences, and practical exercises set in mixed groups in order to improve the experience sharing and different perspectives.
Through a collaborative and challenge-based approach, participants were able also to develop their own dynamic models and implement them in an open access simulation environment.

The Summer School in Como was a great experience to understand how the best-known system dynamics models are built – not only the description in some article but the step-by-step process. Also, having classes on themes that are related to SD, as publishing when using this method and applications, were very enlightening. A great way to have an in-depth overview!

The Summer School in Como was a sort of experience that gives you lots of fundamental knowlegde, confronts you with people that have amazing stories to share and feeds you amazing food on top of that. The course on System Dynamics provided information on beginnings of the methodology, showed its basic workings and guided through self-teaching as all of the students were invitied to try to put their own research idea to work with the use of SD. The School was great organisation-wise and it was all coated in a nice atmosphere of fun, definitly one to remember.

The Lake Como Summer School was a fantastic event for learning in and about System Dynamics tools supporting model-based policy analysis.
